The distribution was coordinated by local civil society, the livelihood sector and local government who provided information leaflets on how to use facemasks and effectively sanitize recipients to ensure widespread access to basic hygiene measures as well as public health information.

The target groups for the first distribution of facemasks, particularly vulnerable to exposure, were the police, fire service, cyclone preparedness volunteers and volunteers in their own communities who were grateful for the extra preventive measures in light of the pandemic.

Case study

Swapna Rani Dey, Eye Treatment Beneficiary

“I am Swapna Rani De, a housewife. My husband is a farmer, my family consists of 4 daughters and 3 sons. My age is around 50 (fifty). For a long time I suffered from cataracts and redness of the eyes. I was not taken to the hospital even though my husband and sons assured me a lot. A few weeks ago some organization called door to door did a house to door survey about providing eye care services. A few months ago I got tested for diabetes from there and my husband Govind Lal de Harte saw a doctor. So the boys are saying that since they are doing the survey, the big doctor will come there again after a few days to see them. After waiting for a long time, I can see the eye doctor today. Hope the pain will end for many days. By God's grace we are getting many benefits. I am really happy today. May your organization live forever.
